Steps to Make Cold Brew Coffee:

  1. Measure Your Coffee and Water: Use a ratio of 1:4 coffee to water by weight for a concentrate, or 1:8 for a ready-to-drink brew. For example:

    • For 1 liter (4 cups) of water, use 250 grams (about 1 cup) of coffee for concentrate or 125 grams (about 8 tablespoons) for a lighter brew.

  2. Grind Your Beans: Grind your coffee to a coarse consistency, similar to sea salt. This prevents over-extraction and makes filtration easier.

  3. Combine Coffee and Water: Place the ground coffee in your jar or pitcher and add cold water. Stir gently to ensure all the grounds are saturated.

  4. Steep: Cover the container and let it steep at room temperature or in the refrigerator for 12-24 hours. Longer steeping times yield a stronger concentrate.

  5. Strain: Use a coffee filter, fine-mesh strainer, or cheesecloth to separate the grounds from the coffee. Repeat if necessary to remove fine particles.

  6. Serve:

    • For concentrate: Dilute with water, milk, or your preferred liquid at a 1:1 ratio (or to taste).

    • For ready-to-drink: Pour over ice and enjoy as is.
