AeroPress

What is AeroPress Coffee? AeroPress coffee is a versatile brewing method that uses a compact, cylindrical device to brew coffee through immersion and gentle pressure. Known for its speed and portability, the AeroPress allows for various recipes, making it a favorite among coffee enthusiasts who enjoy experimenting with brewing styles.

How It Works

  • Ground coffee is steeped in hot water inside the AeroPress chamber.

  • After steeping, pressure is applied by pressing a plunger, forcing the brewed coffee through a paper or metal filter and into a cup.

  • The combination of immersion and pressure extraction results in a clean, concentrated, and flavorful cup.

AeroPress Coffee Recipe

Ingredients:

  • Freshly roasted coffee beans.

  • Filtered water.

Equipment:

  • AeroPress device.

  • AeroPress paper or metal filter.

  • Burr grinder.

  • Gooseneck kettle.

  • Measuring scale.

  • Timer.

Steps to Make AeroPress Coffee:

  1. Measure Your Coffee and Water: Use a ratio of 1:14 to 1:17 coffee to water by weight. For example:

    • For 200 grams (7 ounces) of water, use 14 grams (about 2 tablespoons) of coffee.

  2. Grind Your Beans: Grind your coffee to a medium-fine consistency, slightly finer than table salt. Adjust grind size to suit your taste preference.

  3. Prepare the AeroPress:

    • Assemble the AeroPress with a filter in the cap.

    • Rinse the filter with hot water to remove any papery taste and preheat the chamber. Discard the rinse water.

  4. Add Coffee Grounds: Place the AeroPress on a sturdy mug or carafe and add the coffee grounds to the chamber.

  5. Add Water:

    • Heat water to 195°F to 205°F.

    • Pour water over the coffee, filling to the desired level. Stir gently to ensure all grounds are saturated.

  6. Steep: Let the coffee steep for 1-2 minutes, depending on your recipe and taste preference.

  7. Press:

    • Insert the plunger and press down slowly and steadily, applying gentle pressure until all the coffee is extracted.

    • The process should take about 20-30 seconds.

  8. Serve: Dilute the brewed coffee with hot water or milk if desired, or enjoy as a concentrated espresso-like shot.
